That was supposed to be enough.
It wasn't.
The veil that kept Eldergloom's oldest horrors dormant is gone now, and the world above is already feeling what that means. The roads below are waking. Something that has been patient for longer than the gods have had names is patient no longer, and the hunger stirring in the dark beneath everything does not distinguish between the worthy and the wicked.
Vaughn, Michelle, and Lee came back from the edge of an impossible fight carrying more than they left with. The question now is whether what they carried will be enough.
Some things cannot be fought. Some things can only be survived.
They are not yet sure which kind of thing this is.
